The 2012 Eye on Black (EOB) saluted to Black Film makers at the Park Plaza Hotel, downtown Los Angeles recently. The Eye on Black: Salute to Directors recognizes influential African Americans who are responsible for shaping the black experience through film. This year’s host was Brandon T. Jackson with honorees Debbie Allen, Martin Lawrence, Haile Gerima, and Chris Robinson. EOB’s Spotlight Directors were Bill Duke and Ava DuVernay and presenters included Tim Allen, Luke Wilson, Khalil Kain, Tatyana Ali, Evan Ross, Kimberly Elise and Nia Long.
Eye on Black Eye On Black (EOB) created in 2010 is a platform that recognizes influential people of African descent in the areas of philanthropy, music, business empowerment, Afro-centric thought, and innovation in the arts.
